Registering on the Phone
When you ring the local office, you will be asked what problems you have in using ordinary buses and the nature of your mobility problem. (This enables us to ensure that when you travel, the bus is properly equipped). In addition, you will be asked some simple questions such as name and address details, and the name of your next of kin or someone who can be contacted in the event of any difficulties you may have whilst you are using the service.
Following Registration, the local office will send an information pack which includes:
Your registration number.
The telephone number and times when you need to ring to make bookings (with a sticker showing the telephone number which you can put on your telephone).
The User Handbook.
Any special services which operate in your area.
You will also be sent a form which you must sign and which confirms that you qualify to use the Charity’s services and a form identifying your ethnic origin.
You are provided with an envelope in which to return these forms.
Your First Journey?
When you first register, you will be able to book your first return journey up to 7 days in advance (compared with the normal 2 days in advance) so it is a good idea to have in mind a journey which you would like to make.
For New Passengers
You must return the signed form to enable you to continue using the Charity’s Services. Sometimes the information pack might be given to you on the bus when you make your first journey. If that does happen, please ask the driver if you have any questions about using the service.
This information is stored on computer is to assist us in the booking process and for planning purposes. Information about individual Passengers will not be provided to anyone outside the Charity without the Passengers permission.
