Travelling Beyond Your Local Area.

Whilst Ring and Ride focuses on enabling Passengers to get to local destinations in their neighbourhood, and up to 1/2 mile into the adjoining area, it is also recognised that people want and need to travel further afield, beyond where their local service normally operates.

Where You Can Travel

In response to this, a limited "Cross-Boundary" service enables Passenger to travel beyond the 1/2 mile limit currently available, to anywhere in the operating areas adjoining their own.

To enable you to travel further afield Ring and Ride will also link up with other passenger transport services including local trains, the Metro and the Cross-Boundary Bus of another Ring and Ride operating area. This enables journeys to be completed from door to door across the West Midlands.

Booking Journeys

To use this service, a separate booking procedure is used, which includes: Booking three days in advance (rather than the usual two days) A separate Booking Time and a separate Telephone Booking Number You will find the booking time and number in the inside front cover of your handbook. In addition, you will find enclosed information about the local rail network which operates in the West Midlands.

How Much Will You Pay

If you have a Centro concessionary travel pass including Senior Citizen or Blind/Disabled pass, these can be used anywhere in the West Midlands enabling you to travel free. Alternatively, a fare will be charged relative to the distance travelled and for each leg of the journey. Travelling Across the Region - Cross Boundary Advanced Booking Forms (A.B.F’s) ABF"s allow you to book four Cross Boundary Trips in advance of the three day notice period during a six month period. These are in addition to the existing A.B.F.’s that you can use for local Ring and Ride trips.

Where possible, your journey request will be confirmed immediately. Where this is not possible, you will be contacted, (normally on the following day), to confirm whether or not your journey can be completed.
