New Deputy Manager at the South Birmingham Depot

Steve Olden, who was recently presented with the award of Non-Driver of the Year at the Ring and Ride 25th Anniversary event in December 2008, has been promoted to be Deputy Manager of the South Birmingham Depot.

Steve Olden has been with the West Midlands Special Needs Transport for over 20 years starting his career as a driver with Birmingham Ring and Ride, when it was instigated in Hockley, and was promoted to supervisor within 6 months.

Steve moved to our Sandwell depot in 1991, where he stayed until the Charity's structure changed in 2003, following which he became a controller.

Steve and South Birmingham‘s District Manager, Jean Webb, have worked closely together since then, both initially as controllers before Jean herself was promoted to manager.

Jean commented that "He will make an excellent Deputy Manager. Steve likes a challenge and all his experience will be put to good use now that we have taken over all staff and contracts fleet based at Frankley.
