Community Options Team in Birmingham Launch DVD promoting travel training for adults with learning difficulties
Birmingham City Council’s Community Options Team have launched their new DVD promoting their travel training programme which enables adults with learning difficulties to use public transport independently. The event took place at the Council House on the 1st October and was opened by the Lord Mayor Cllr Michael Wilkes.
Whilst more accessible mainstream bus services enable an increasing number of people with physical and/or learning disabilities to travel independently, for those with more problematic conditions this is not always an option. As a door to door, specialist bus service, operated by appropriately trained drivers, we ensure that passengers are treated empathetically, and travel safely from their home to their destination using the Ring and Ride service independently or with a carer or friend.

Far right is Gregory Churchill who uses the service to go to his club in Sutton Coldfield.
